Our Mission

Village of Brooklin Co-operative Playschool is an early learning community where children are nurtured and guided through a loving and supportive environment created by families and teachers. We are committed to providing children with a stimulating, play- based program that focuses on all aspects of a child’s development – social, emotional, physical, and cognitive. VBCP is built on the foundation of working collaboratively with parents, children, teachers and the community in a co-operative setting.

Our History

VBCP has been offering quality, early learning education to families in the Village of Brooklin and surrounding areas, for over 20 years! Our centre was officially incorporated on August 18, 1998. This proves that by having a co- operative partnership with parents and teachers, we are able to build a strong, early learning foundation for our children in the community.

In 1998, a few moms decided to put together a “playgroup” for their children and other children in the community. They were attending another playgroup and realized that they had no insurance for the facilities and the children. Five ladies, Jen Bisschop, Cynithia Amondsen, Barbara Matthews, Heather Piliounis, and Sherri Wagner, with their children in tow (and a few pregnant), found a location in Brooklin to start the VBCP. Their main goal was to create something safe for parents and their children. They wanted a place for their children to socialize, learn, and meet new people. It started out small back in 1998 and has now grown into a well- known, reputable preschool within our community.
