A co-operative playschool is a non-profit organization run by parents who have joined together for the purpose of setting up and maintaining a low cost pre-school program for their children. Taking part in a co-operative playschool allows you to be directly involved with your child’s early education. Choosing a co-operative playschool gives you extra time to bond with your child and create memories together. Your child will always know that education is important in your family because you live it everyday.
Our co-operative is run by a group of parents elected to a Board of Directors. The Board makes decisions in the best interest of the children, while representing our membership.

Sarah is returning for a third year as President. She is a nutritionist with a background in event management and banking. Sarah and husband have two daughters, and have lived in Whitby for 3 years. Her eldest daughter started at VBCP in the fall of 2014 and they have both loved being a part of this amazing community. Sarah’s youngest is attending this year. Sarah is looking forward to being further involved in the VBCP community as well as the larger Brooklin and Whitby communities with her position on the Board of Directors.
This is Erin’s fourth year with the VBCP board as Vice President. She is an elementary school teacher specializing in working with children with special needs and in kindergarten education. Erin resides in Brooklin with her husband and three children. Her oldest child is in SK this year, and her middle child is in the PM class this year. Being a part of the board has allowed her to be involved in her children’s education, to pursue her passion of educating young children and being involved in the community.
Sarah has been on the VBCP Board of Directors for five years. She started in the role of committees chair and then moved to treasurer. She is a chartered accountant and works in public practice for an international accounting firm. Her son, who is a previous VBCP student, is now in Grade 1 and she has a daughter who is in her second year of preschool. Volunteering on the Board, has enabled her to contribute to the community, build new friendships as well as provide accounting and business expertise to assist with the successful management of the school.
This is Sabine’s second year on the board. Her oldest daughter is in SK after attending the VBCP for two years, and her youngest daughter is in the Tuesday-Thursday class.
She is a stay at home mom of two wonderful girls and loves being around young children. Sabine used to be a speech language pathologist in Holland where she grew up and lived until 2008.
She’s excited for another year on the board and to be part of the community.

I am very excited to be returning to the VBCP family with my youngest child attending this year. I am a travel agent by profession, with lots of experience in event coordination. I am very much looking forward to a fantastic year ahead and putting those skills to use to benefit the school. VBCP is a fantastic organization and I am so glad the welcomed me on to the Board!
I have 7 years experience with the financial institution ScotiaMcLeod which I enjoyed immensely. I am now in the midst of an indefinite hiatus raising my amazing 2 children (Nolan, 4 years & Camryn, 1.5 years).
Though I enjoy being home for my kids I miss the challenges of business. Joining the VBCP Board gives me the privilege of participating on a team & supporting my kids.
My name is Kristy and I am the Committees Chair on the board this year. This is my family’s second year at VBCP, and my first year on the board. My family and I really enjoy the community and learning style VBCP has to offer, as well as the wonderful teachers and parents who make the school run. I joined the board to learn more about the “behind the scenes” running of the school, and to contribute to making the 2017/2018 school year a success.
